About Our School

St. Mary's School is Preschool to Grade 8 Program.  We are dedicated to providing our students with an opportunity for academic excellence while also allowiing them spiritual strength and respect for human differences.  Each child is a unique, valued member of society as well as a strong, Christian individual.
Curriculum Goals
We are an accredited school of the Wisconsin Nonpublic School Accrediting Association.  We follow the curriculum guidelines designed by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.  Our students are administered the Iowa Basics Standardized Test and the Wisconsin Standards Tests.  Physical Education, Art, Music and Health are part of our regular curriculum offered to the entire school.

We provide a solid education in basic skills, as well as an understanding of society.  We recognize each child's talents, and they learn to value their talents as well as the talents and abilities of other students.

Our Junior High Curriculum promotes the development of self discipline and personal accountability, and encourages and supports students in their personal achievements. We understand that it is important to build the self-esteem necessary to succeed in high school.  St. Mary's helps guide our students as they move to young adulthood.

Sports
St. Mary's School offers basketball to grades 4 - 8 boys and 5 - 8 girls.  We belong to the St. Croix Valley League and 7 - 8 grades belong to the St. Paul League and play against other Catholic Schools.  Our 7th and 8th grade students are given the opportunity to participate in all sports during the school year at New Richmond Middle School.  These include:  football, wrestling, volleyball and track.
Music Program
Our students attend two Music classes each week.  The children perform in various Music Programs which involve solo and group singing, and instruments such as hand bells, recorders, orff xylophones, and rhythm instruments.  Our 6th through 8th grade students are given the opportunity to join the Band program at the New Richmond Middle School.
Faith
An organized Religion Curriculum is part of the Preschool to 8th grade program.  Daily religion classes include prayer.  We also attend Mass weekly and on Holy Days of Obligation, which reinforce the students' faith in God.  All students take part in the Mass by reading the Gospel messages, saying petitions and serving as song leaders.  Students deepen their faith through school liturgies.  The daily religion classes provide a foundation in faith history and nurture strong values to help our children as they encounter new challenges, issues, and concerns.

The students have the opportunity to share their faith with the community by visiting New Richmond Nursing Homes, having Prayer Partners, and praying for others.  The discipline is Christian based and values are strongly emphasized.

Community Service
Sharing our faith with others is part of our every day life at St. Mary's.  We do this in a variety of ways, including leaf raking in the neighborhood, monthly visits to Maple Manor Nursing Home and Deerfield Assisted Living Facility.  Our Middle School students sew quilts for children in crisis.
Emphasis on Safety
Drug-free, alcohol-free, violence-free.  We provide a positive and safe environment essential in an educational setting.
