St. Mary’s School Parents Handbook

EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The education committee is an advisory committee to the school.  This committee consists of selected members that meet periodically throughout the school year.  Their goals and priorities are set according to the needs of the school.

MUSIC PROGRAMS
There are two music programs held in the evening during the school year.  The first is the Christmas Program in December and the second is the Spring Program in the spring.  Information is included in the weekly newsletters prior to the programs.

FUNDRAISING
All families attending St. Mary’s School are expected to participate in fundraising activities.  A fundraising volunteer commitment form is given out to each family at the beginning of the school year.  Every family is expected to participate in and sign-up to help with at-least one fundraising event during the current academic year.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Many of our fundraising events double as public relation events.  It is important to participate in these events to help promote our positive reputation with in the church and community.

BIG BROTHER/BIG SISTER PROGRAM
Each spring students in grades 4-8 are paired up with students in grades K-3 as a big brother or
big sister.  Students are encouraged to do something nice, such as writing a note, drawing a
picture, eating lunch together, and praying for each other.  Teachers plan special activities to bring
the big/little sisters/brothers together.

STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council is an organization through which the students may express their opinions, assist in the administration of the school, and participate in the management of the school enterprises.  The Council tries to promote leadership, initiative, and self-control among its members.
